Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame inductees include Metallica, Run D.M.C.
Each year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gives music fans plenty to bitch and moan about as each new inductee's credentials are questioned over those who were passed over. (Madonna? Really??) Well, fans of The Stooges, War, and Chic, get those fists a-shakin'. Those three acts were among the nominees missing from the final list of 2009 inductees, which is headed up by Metallica, Jeff Beck, and Run D.M.C. (who will be the second rap group inducted into the Hall of Fame, following Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five in 2007). Soul singer Bobby Womack and Little Anthony And The Imperials also made the final cut, as did rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson.
Both the Stooges and Chic have been nominated and passed over for induction several times in the past, a slight that seems even more egregious given that Beck was already inducted as a member of the Yardbirds back in 1992, and that the Stooges preformed at Madonna's induction into the Hall last year (whaaa?).
The induction ceremony will take place April 4, and will feature the first performance by Run D.M.C. since Jam Master Jay was killed in 2004.
