As previously announced, Brunson, creator and star of Abbott Elementary, will host Saturday Night Live for the second time on May 3. She’ll be joined by musical guest Benson Boone, best known for his TikTok-friendly hit “Beautiful Things” and doing a crazy flip in a sparkly jumpsuit at the Grammys. Boone recently performed at Coachella with special guest Brian May accompanying him for a cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody.” His new album, American Heart, debuts June 20.
Boone is an SNL first timer, as is the host on May 10, Walton Goggins. It’s almost hard to believe Goggins has never been invited before, given how consistently he’s been working for years and how funny he’s proven himself to be. But we’ve undeniably reached peak Goggins with Fallout, The White Lotus, and The Righteous Gemstones, and Saturday Night Live can no longer ignore him—particularly not when Emmy campaigning is ramping up! Arcade Fire will serve as Goggins’ musical guest, coinciding with the release of their new album Pink Elephant on May 9. Earlier this year, they were part of the SNL50 Homecoming Concert.
The final episode of the season, airing May 17, will be hosted by Scarlett Johansson (her seventh time) with musical guest Bad Bunny (his third). Johansson is practically a repertory player at this point, often popping in to play Ivanka Trump in the show’s political parodies. Usually she’s watching from the wings during husband Colin Jost and Michael Che’s Weekend Update joke swaps, but since she’s the actual host this year, maybe she’ll get more involved. Rumors have circulated that this may be Che’s final season (fueled by Che himself). Johansson is promoting the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth, but perhaps her hosting is a sentimental move for the final episode of SNL‘s longest-running Weekend Update duo. Guess we’ll find out in May!
