Stone Roses singer Ian Brown is teasing new solo music
Manchester’s seminal Stone Roses reunited in 2011, played their first-ever U.S. shows in 2013, and even released a few new singles in 2016, but now it seems that frontman Ian Brown is taking a breather to return to his solo work. Some posters began appearing in Manchester this week, promising a new single from Brown called “First World Problems.” Though the posters declare it to be “out now,” that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Still, rumors about a new release continue to percolate. Last week, XS Manchester, a local radio station, tweeted out some rumblings, though they’re quick to stamp a “maybe” alongside each of them. Still, the word on the street is that the new tunes will have an “analogue” sound with a “classic Roses vibe” and that a new release—it’s unclear if this means an LP or a single—is already recorded and mastered. A release date of October 25 is also mentioned, as is a music video for the lead single.
