Tech bros take another hit in trailer for Netflix's crypto scandal series The Altruists.

Following fast on the heels of The Social Reckoning, Musk, and Artificial, our technology oligarch overlords continue to have a rough year on the big and small screen with today’s release of The Altruists‘ trailer. Chronicling the high-stakes cryptocurrency shell game perpetrated by convicted FTX fraudsters Sam Bankman-Fried (played by House Of Guinness‘ Anthony Boyle) and Caroline Ellison (Inventing Anna), the trailer promises further insight into the socially maladjusted flim-flammers currently running/imperiling the world.

The trailer rings with the sort of gung-ho amorality so-called “disruptors” love, with Garner’s Ellison stating, “Going all-in is the only mathematically optimal strategy,” and Boyle’s immediately smitten Bankman-Fried boasting about wanting to “make a difference” before further boasting, “There’s no such thing as criminals. There’s only people that get caught.” As newshounds know, Bankman-Fried and Ellison did indeed get caught for defrauding customers out of billions, with the series’ message implied by Karan Soni‘s disillusioned co-conspirator stating, “You and Sam are the two smartest people I’ve ever met, but sometimes I can’t fathom how you can both be so stupid.”

The Altruists, which also stars Alex Lawther, Matt Rife, Madison Hu, Jennifer Grey, and Paul Reiser, premieres on Netflix on November 19.
