Natalie Portman's gotta sell a dead body in The Gallerist trailer

If we had a nickel for every time Charli xcx played a supporting role in a comedy set in the art world in 2026, we’d have two nickels—which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. On the heels of I Want Your Sex comes The Gallerist, a film that this writer has been wondering how it would possibly be pulled off ever since it was first announced two years ago. The trailer still has us wondering, though we’ll hope that a cast this star-studden should be at least fun to watch.

In case you hadn’t already heard of The Gallerist‘s premise, what we knew was that a curator would be trying to sell a dead body at Art Basel Miami. As we see here, that body belongs to Zach Galifianakis, with Natalie Portman having the unfortunate task of having to sell his corpse. “What begins as an impromptu act of survival—when she conspires to pass off an accidental corpse as the centerpiece of her debut show—spirals into a sly game of deception, spectacle, and ticking-clock chaos as influencers and police converge,” continues the full synopsis. “Will she end up famous, a felon, or both?”

Portman, Galifianakis, and xcx star in the film with Jenna Ortega, Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Brühl, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The Gallerist opens in theaters on December 4.
