It’s already been a long day at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital, and the shift’s not over yet. Tension has been brewing between senior resident Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball) and the new intern Dr. Santos (Isa Birones). The pair bickered over the best treatment for a patient, and ever since Santos has been seeking proof that Langdon committed malpractice—even going so far as to suggest he could be stealing drugs. Has Santos actually identified a problem that no one else in the hospital has noticed? Or has she launched on a doomed crusade to appease her own bruised ego? Whatever the case may be, her ego is about to take another hit in The Pitt exclusive clip. 

Ahead of the premiere of Thursday’s new episode (“3 P.M.”), The A.V. Club has an exclusive sneak peek at the ninth hour of the Max medical procedural, and it’s not going well for Santos. In the clip, Langdon really rips into her over her continued arrogance in the E.R. (seemingly in defense of Dr. Mohan, played by Supriya Ganesh). Given Santos’ attitude the past several episodes, the tirade may be deserved, but it looks like it’s going to get him in trouble with his attending Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle). 

Some fans may relish seeing someone finally push back on Santos in The Pitt exclusive clip. After all, she’s spent most of the shift so far bullying her peers, questioning her superiors, and dropping scalpels into people’s feet. She could probably use a bit of humbling before she makes a bigger, more dangerous mistake. But past episodes have also suggested that Santos knows something about men using their positions of power to do bad things, so maybe she sees an issue with Langdon that no one else can. We’ll have to tune into the episode—dropping Thursday at 9 PM on Max—to see if this confrontation squashes the beef between the doctors or fans the flames even further.
