Now, you could argue that, given that series creator and co-showrunner Jenny Han is also “ridiculously successful author of the source material” Jenny Han, she could hypothetically extend the story of Isabel “Belly” Conklin as long as she likes. But, no: The series will run through its previously announced third season, which is set to air some time this July, and then conclude. The series centers on Belly, a 16-year-old navigating a love triangle with two brothers she’s known since childhood. (Not her brothers, to be clear; it’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, not The Summer I Turned Pretty Weird.) The series, which will deploy 11 more episodes before coming to a close, has been a hit for Amazon, becoming one of its most-watched shows (and moving a ton of Han’s books over in the company’s dusty old bookstore sections), solidifying her position as a streaming hitmaker.
Speaking of: Han’s still going to be pretty busy, even after this series concludes: She’s still also serving as a co-showrunner on Netflix’s XO, Kitty, a TV-spinoff of the To All The Boys movies also based on her books. That show released its second season back in January of 2025, and has already picked up a third-season renewal of its own.
