The Walkmen offer to make up for a cancelled show with spaghetti, canned beer, Peter Gabriel

After they cancelled an Oct. 6 show in Philadelphia “for some dumb reason,” The Walkmen have made amends by promising ticketholders a pretty boss make-up event. The band posted on Facebook that it will dish out spaghetti, meatballs, and “cheap canned beer” to those with ticket stubs to the cancelled show. While fans dine, the band will soundcheck “half-assed versions” of Coldplay’s “The Scientist,” and “Fix You,” Living Colour’s “Cult Of Personality,” and Peter Gabriel’s “Solsbury Hill.”

All this will go down right before the rescheduled show Jan. 11 at Union Transfer, and the band might even have a few more surprises up its sleeve. Frontman Hamilyon Leithauser, pictured above, says guest spaghetti slingers may include “Mazarin, Fleet Foxes, Blood Feathers, The War On Drugs, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Kurt Vile,” who the band doesn’t actually know, but figures “might be into the spaghetti.” Of course, none of these people have actually been asked to participate, let alone said yes to anything, so don’t hold your breath, Robin Pecknold fans.

Fans who may not have a ticket stub anymore or never had one in the first place are welcome to write in and plead their case as well. Because “it’s not that sweet a deal,” Leithauser says “restrictions are sort of lax,” chances are at least decent that exceptionally persuasive beggars might get in. [via Pitchfork]
