Introducing Endless Mode: A New Games & Anime Site from Paste
Lopez Vs. Lopez, Night Court, Found, The Irrational, and Suits LA are dead; long live The Fall And Rise Of Reggie Dinkins. After a veritable bloodbath on Friday, NBC is starting to rebuild its comedy cabinet. New seasons of St. Denis Medical and Happy’s Place had already secured precious 8 p.m. slots on Mondays and Fridays, respectively. Now, the new single-cam series from creator Tina Fey and star Tracy Morgan will officially join their ranks, per Deadline.
Anything from the former 30 Rock team is a pretty safe bet, especially on the series’ original home network. Fey and Morgan aren’t the only TGS alumni involved in the show, which got a pilot order back in March: Robert Carlock will join Fey as co-showrunner, along with writer Sam Means.
This time, however, the team is taking on a different sphere of entertainment. The Fall And Rise Of Reggie Dinkins reportedly follows a disgraced former football player, Reggie (Morgan), on a quest to rehabilitate his image. At least the image rehabilitation part isn’t that different from Morgan’s 30 Rock character; maybe he’ll join a goofy sketch comedy series as part of his scheme. As previously announced, Daniel Radcliffe will also star as Arthur Tobin, a documentarian who moves into Reggie’s mansion to make an “immersive” film about the athlete. With today’s series order, this becomes Radcliffe’s first major role in an American broadcast series. Other previously announced stars include Erika Alexander, Bobby Moynihan, Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall.
The first season of Reggie Dinkins will contain 10 episodes. Deadline notes that this often indicates a midseason launch, but NBC has not set a premiere date as of this writing. You can expect it to join the lineup on either Monday or Friday nights, though. The network partly cleared all those shows last week to make room for their big new block of NBA coverage on Tuesdays.
