Weird Al's “most full-blown, over-the-top" 2019 tour will feature a symphony orchestra in every city

“Weird Al” Yankovic proved (yet again) that he’s much more than a parody artist this year when he embarked on the “Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour,” which found the “Eat It” singer playing a series of stripped-down shows packed with original material. Now, he’s back not just to his old tricks, but a characteristically outrageous version of them by announcing that his next tour will feature a full symphony orchestra at every stop. You know that means: So. Much. Polka.

The North American “Strings Attached” tour kicks off sometime in 2019, with the full itinerary dropping on November 12. Yankovic promises he’ll be “PLAYING THE HITS” in an Instagram post announcing the tour, which he says will also feature “deep cuts” that he and his band have never played before. “We’re going directly from my most scaled-down, low-key show ever… to my most full-blown, over-the-top extravaganza ever,” he wrote, explaining that the players will be sourced from each city he visits, even if that means “putting together our own orchestra with local musicians.”
