What's on TV this week—President Curtis and Furious premiere

Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, July 26 to Saturday, August 1. All times are Eastern.

President Curtis (Adult Swim, Sunday, 11:30 p.m., series premiere) In this Rick And Morty spinoff, Emmy winner Keith David is back as President Andre Curtis, with Stephanie Beatriz and Jim Rash voicing members of his eccentric staff. The commander-in-chief and co. tangle with paranormal threats of a smaller scale than Rick Sanchez’s usual cosmic concerns: Werewolves, French supersoldiers committing revenge on Napoleon Bonaparte’s behalf, a murderous Paul Bunyan—you get the picture.  Check out The A.V. Furious (Hulu, Monday, series premiere) It’s a little Killing Eve, a little The Fall and a lot of Black Widow, the 1987 neo-noir on which it’s based: This cat-and-mouse crime thriller stars Emmy Rossum as Alice Black, an FBI agent on the hunt for a mysterious and manipulative  female serial killer (Lola Petticrew) who has been targeting wealthy men across New York City. As the investigation continues, their lives become dangerously intertwined, with Scoot McNairy, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, and Jake Lacy rounding out the main cast. The first three episodes arrive on Hulu on Monday; look out for The A.V. Club’s recap then, and read the review of all eight episodes here. 

Fightland (Starz, Friday, 9 p.m., series premiere) Created by Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith and executive produced by 50 Cent, this boxing drama centers on Maduka “Duke” Kilroy (Howard Charles), a champion prizefighter whose in-the-ring career was derailed by a devastating tragedy that landed him in prison for eight years. Newly released from jail, Duke returns to London to seek revenge against the crime family—led by kingpin Kingsley Marshall (Nicholas Pinnock)—who he believes betrayed him. The A.V. Club’s review weighs in on Friday.
