Alan Ritchson in talks to take over big-guy role in Helldivers after Jason Momoa exit

We may find out sooner rather than later, as Ritchson is in talks to replace Fast X co-star Jason Momoa (per The Hollywood Reporter) as the lead in the Justin Lin-directed adaptation of the popular video game series Helldivers. Momoa had been attached to the film since February before dipping out of the production over “creative differences,” according to sources who spoke with THR. (Momoa’s plenty busy with video game adaptations anyway; we’ll next see him in October’s Street Fighter, and there’s the Minecraft sequel still on the way.) A film about shock troopers fighting aliens on a Super Earth demands a large man to fill its leading role, and with Momoa out and most of the other big fellas busy with other projects—Henry Cavill’s doing Highlander, Dave Bautista’s on God Of War, and Dwayne Johnson’s busy with that new Jumanji—Ritchson should do just fine decked out in Helldivers armor.
