Paul Thomas Anderson and Benny Safdie film Cameron Winter's sold-out Carnegie Hall concert

From the creators of One Battle After Another and The Smashing Machine comes… Cameron Winter Live at Carnegie Hall?

Last night, Geese frontman Cameron Winter brought his beloved piano-and-microphone, one-man performance to the storied Carnegie Hall in Midtown Manhattan. A few thousand people congregated in the Stern Auditorium to watch Winter play songs from his acclaimed solo debut, Heavy Metal, to a sold-out crowd featuring Joe Keery, Lucas Hedges (who recently appeared in the “Love Takes Miles” video), Phish’s Trey Anastasio, and more. During “Nina + Field of Crops,” Paul Thomas Anderson can be seen filming Winter with a Panavision 35mm camera. And who else is on stage, assisting the director? Well, it’s Benny Safdie, of course. Attendees have also reported that the directors had a film setup in the venue’s balcony, as well. There’s no word on what any of this means, but you can see just how surreal all of it is in the clip below, which was captured by @phishonphilm on Instagram.
