Guillermo del Toro is now getting his own action figure
Guillermo del Toro movies are particularly well-suited to spawning super cool merch, whether it’s a controversial The Shape Of Water dildo or Pacific Rim action figures that are cooler than the movie they were in, but now Guillermo del Toro himself is getting some cool merch. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, toy company NECA has announced that it’s releasing a toy of the director as part of its Guillermo del Toro Signature Collection, which also includes toys of Santi from The Devil’s Backbone and the Pale Man and Faun from Pan’s Labyrinth. You can see a photo of the Del Toro toy below, and there are more at the Entertainment Weekly link:
Sadly, there is a catch. For whatever reason, NECA seems to believe that a toy of the guy from the Death Stranding trailer won’t have mass-market appeal, so it will only be available at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con in July. If you manage to snag one of these, the toy will come with what appears to be a real cloth outfit (none of that molded plastic for an Oscar winner) and what EW says is “a replica of the notebook Del Toro used to record his notes and sketches for Pan’s Labyrinth.”
The figure will cost $40, but no price is too high for the chance to finally let your Barbie meet the guy who made Hellboy.
