Roommates are a nightmare. They’re loud, they leave dishes in the sink, and sometimes, if you’re really unlucky, they steal your identity and try to murder you. While they’ve hopefully had better luck in their real life living situations, Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell are reportedly in talks to replay one of the most dire roommate relationships ever put to screen. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the two actors are being eyed for a remake of 1992 thriller Single White Female from 3000 Pictures.

The original Barbet Schroeder feature starred Bridget Fonda as a single woman who takes in a new tenant (Jennifer Jason Leigh), only to find that she may have been better off scraping together the rent on her own. The film was based on John Lutz’s 1990 novel, SWF Seeks Same. As of this writing, it’s unclear which actor is in talks for which role.

Both Ortega and Russell have played characters that would make rather interesting roommates themselves. Ortega’s Wednesday Addams—and Astrid from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, for that matter—have their respective goth things going on, while Taylor Russell’s Maren from Bones And All was, to put it bluntly, a literal cannibal. Ortega will also appear in the upcoming A24 film The Death Of A Unicorn, The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow album tie-in, art thriller The Gallerist, Taika Waititi’s Kazuo Ishiguro adaptation Klara And The Sun, and an untitled J.J. Abrams film with Glen Powell. Russell will next appear in sci-fi thriller Hope alongside Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender. The Waves actor also just landed the female lead in Michael B. Jordan’s long-gestating The Thomas Crown Affair reimagining.
