Hoping to breathe for the first time, Kelly Clarkson announces the end of her talk show.

Kelly Clarkson is so moving on (yeah, yeah) from The Kelly Clarkson Show

Kelly Clarkson, the shining light in the valley of daytime chat shows dominated by The View, has announced the end of her long-running talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. With the show currently entering its seventh season, Clarkson says she will continue through the rest of the season and deliver the final installment of Kellyoke in the fall. She didn’t announce a big reason for leaving the show, aside from simply “stepping away” from the rise-and-grind lifestyle of maintaining a cheerful demeanor for celebrities and the viewers who find warmth in her glow, so she can “prioritize” her kids. It’s hard to fault her for that, especially when, as she says, “[it] feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”

”I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at The Kelly Clarkson Show, both in Los Angeles and New York,” Clarkson said in a statement. “There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner. Because of all of that, this was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

While she’s so moving on from the talk show circuit, Clarkson promises, “This isn’t goodbye, I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time.” More threateningly, she warns, “…you never know where I might show up next.” This is how you make an exit: Give a heartfelt farewell while reminding your enemies that you can strike at any moment. Sun Tzu would be proud.

Though it feels like The Kelly Clarkson Show has always been with us, it actually premiered less than a decade ago, in 2019. She’s reportedly been trying to get out of the show for a while and was waiting for her contract to expire so she could devote more time to her kids at one of her many homes across the South. Sadly, we only have a few more months left of hearing what Kelly’s Liking on social media before we have to visit one of these hellsites to find out. In the meantime, chat, what do we think the final Kellyoke jam will be? Keep in mind, she’s already crushed “Return Of The Mack.”
