Everyone is getting the band back together this year. The Gallagher brothers are clearly still trendsetters all these decades later, as a surprising number of long-dormant bands will also be dusting off their guitars following Oasis’ reunion announcement. The list includes Rilo Kiley, The Beta Band, Alabama Shakes, and Black Sabbath (for one night only). Even the Warped Tour is coming back.

Now, it’s Minus The Bear‘s turn to wake from their long winter nap. Exactly two decades ago, the Seattle-based group had the indie scene in a chokehold with their sophomore album, Menos El Oso. The track “Pachuca Sunrise” specifically found its way onto many a MySpace profile. The band went on to break up in 2018, but now, you can experience 2005 all over again. Today, the group announced that they’re not only reuniting for a full-length tour after previously being announced as a headliner for Las Vegas’ Best Friends Forever festival, but they’ll also be playing Menos El Oso in full at every stop, in celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary. (If your turn-of-the-millenium tastes trended a bit more black eyeliner, My Chemical Romance will do the same thing with 2006’s Welcome To The Black Parade this summer.)

Menos El Oso put us on a trajectory that none of us were expecting. There is a “before ‘Pachuca Sunrise’ video” moment in time, and then there is an “after ‘Pachuca Sunrise’ video” moment in time. It seemed like once people heard that song, and saw that video, everyone went straight to Limewire, Napster, Soulseek, BitTorrent, etc. and shared the album immediately,” said guitarist and founding member, David Knudson, in a statement. “Celebrating the twentieth anniversary of something this monumental in our lives is a gift. Having the chance to appreciate it with our fans, families and fellow bandmates while we are all alive and kicking is an opportunity I can’t wait to embrace.” At the band’s first rehearsal in seven years (!), drummer Joshua Sparks added, “These songs are like having a really nice car in the garage… it’d be a shame not to take them out for a drive every now and then.”
