Ron Swanson may hate frozen yogurt, being chummy with his coworkers, and most things that aren’t whiskey, silence, and woodworking, but he never would have stood for outright bigotry. Nick Offerman made that very clear this week after Michael Flynn Jr.—the son of very short-lived Trump national security advisor Michael Flynn—used his image in a homophobic tweet.
“Just wanted to post how I feel about ‘pride’ month,” Flynn posted Sunday, alongside a gif that had been edited to make it look like Ron was throwing the rainbow flag into a dumpster. To this, Offerman replied: “Ron was best man at a gay wedding you dumb fuck. #HappyPride.”

At the same time, the Parks And Recreation cast has been processing the death of former castmate Jonathan Joss, whose husband said yesterday was the result of a homophobic attack. “The cast has been texting together about it all day and we’re just heartbroken,” Offerman wrote in a statement to People. “Jonathan was such a sweet guy and we loved having him as our Chief Ken Hotate. A terrible tragedy.”
