Patrick Stewart would end his X-Men retirement for a Legion appearance
[The following may contain spoilers for the FX series Legion. If you don’t know certain things about the comics that the show is based on and don’t want to be spoiled, turn back now.
Just a few days ago, we reported that Patrick Stewart would consider abandoning his post-Logan retirement from playing Charles Xavier in X-Men movies if they could find a good justification for putting him in a Deadpool movie, but apparently that’s not the only X-Men-related project he’d be will to appear in. Last night, in a conveniently coincidental appearance on James Corden’s Late Late Show, Patrick Stewart appeared alongside Legion star Dan Stevens. After Stewart reiterated that he’d be open to a Deadpool role, Stevens jumped in and offered him a spot on Legion. Stewart immediately and enthusiastically said he’d “absolutely, 100 percent” do it, so now Stevens has to go back to Legion boss Noah Hawley and convince him to make it happen.
For people who don’t follow the comics, Legion protagonist David Haller is actually Charles Xavier’s son, so locking down Patrick Stewart for some kind of appearance—even if it’s just a cameo—would be pretty important and exciting for the show. Also, Hawley and Stevens have previously suggested that David Haller’s actual parentage will be acknowledged in some way on Legion, so that will be much easier to do it Charles Xavier himself can pop up.
