Well, that’s kind of an announcement in and of itself, isn’t it? But in truth, Knight has been signaling a continuation of the Peaky-verse for some time. Since the announcement of the final season way back in 2021, Knight has promised that the show will “continue in another form.” And even after a new form (the movie) was in the works, Knight was already looking to the future of the franchise, with an eye on the next generation of Peakys. Speaking with Esquire in 2022, he teased that a character might “pop out” in the film: “I think I know who it’s going to be.” And again, in January of this year, speaking with the Los Angeles Times, he gushed about the “huge global appetite for the world of Peaky Blinders” and the fact that there’s “so much more story to tell.” Promising that the movie, subtitled The Immortal Man, would be “wild, explosive, and deeply emotional,” he added, “Even when the movie is done, there is more to come. Watch this space.”
In the meantime, the movie is in post-production after wrapping filming in December. Cillian Murphy returns as gang leader Tommy Shelby, starring alongside Graham, Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Jay Lycurgo, plus more of the returning Peaky Blinders cast. “We’re putting it together now. I would say this, wouldn’t I? But it’s fantastic. We’ve got the best, I think, the best British actors all in one place, including Stephen [Graham],” Knight told BBC Breakfast. “The stuff that I’m watching—the rushes, the assemblies—no one will be disappointed. It is quite an incredible thing.”
