As screen testing for the new James Bond ramps up, former 007 Pierce Brosnan appears to be throwing his support behind Callum Turner, the reportedly emerging frontrunner. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, the MobLand actor discussed the mounting fervor over the next Bond era, which will kick off with a new film from Amazon MGM Studios and Dune director Denis Villeneuve. “I think we are going to be blown away,” Brosnan said. “[Villeneuve] is such an iconoclastic director. His work is visionary, and his stealth and imagination of camera work and storytelling is so visceral and sensuous. It’s going to be great. It’s going to be truly magnificent.” Speaking of stealth: When asked who he felt best embodies the Bond role among the reported candidates, Brosnan was typically smooth with his answer, complimenting all the actors reportedly testing for the part before sneaking in Callum Turner’s name as if he were infiltrating the guy into a secret Soviet chemical weapons facility, or something.
