Madison’s musical guest will be controversial country music star Morgan Wallen. It’ll be Wallen’s second time performing on the SNL stage. The first time he was supposed to appear was October 2020, but his invitation was rescinded after he was seen partying without a mask during a time when strict COVID protocols were still in place. Because SNL has rarely cut ties with anybody so long as they’re still popular, he was invited back a couple months later, and they even did a whole sketch about the situation. Wallen’s only had more legal trouble (and a notable racial slur scandal) since then, but he’s also won a lot of awards and broken chart records, so he’s safely still SNL-worthy.
Jack Black, who stars in the upcoming Minecraft movie, will host SNL for the fourth time on April 5. Elton John and Brandi Carlile will serve as musical guests to commemorate their new collaborative album Who Believes In Angels, which comes out on April 4; they were recently Oscar-nominated for the track “Never Too Late.” It’ll be a big weekend for the duo, who have a special An Evening With Elton John And Brandi Carlile airing on CBS on April 6. Carlile was also part of SNL‘s anniversary celebrations, performing on SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.
Jon Hamm, who was also part of the anniversary celebrations (he was one of the celebrity guests for the main SNL50 special), will host the show on April 12, also for the fourth time. He’s promoting his new AppleTV+ series Your Friends And Neighbors. His musical guest is Lizzo, appearing ahead of the release of her upcoming album Love In Real Life. Her performance will also mark her lucky number fourth appearance on the show. A lot of almost-Five Timers this go around!
