The He-Man of 1987's Masters Of The Universe was ripped, coiffed, and rugged, with Dolph Lundgren bringing a veiny pro wrestler’s physique to the role of a superhuman warrior-prince. Sony and Mattel Films’ long-gestating reboot of the franchise is going in a decidedly different direction, it seems, overlooking John Cena entirely in favor of Noah Centineo, the heartthrob of Netflix’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. He replaces Twilight’s Kellan Lutz, who was previously attached to the role.
Variety reports that Centineo, who will also appear in Sony’s upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot, is in talks with the studios to portray the defender of Eternia in a film that’s passed between McG and David S. Goyer over the years. Goyer is credited as an executive producer, though it appears his script has been retooled by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the writers behind Iron Man and, egads, Punisher: War Zone. Brothers Adam and Aaron Nee will direct the feature, their first since 2015's Band of Robbers. Filming begins this summer.
