Steven Knight—the creator of Peaky Blinders and recent Hulu series A Thousand Blows—is on board to produce. The film will be directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, who’ve already made a name for themselves as rockumentary directors. The two previously collaborated on No Distance Left To Run, which followed Blur’s 2009 reunion, Shut Up And Play The Hits, which documented LCD Soundsystem’s not-so-“final” show at Madison Square Garden in 2011, and Meet Me In The Bathroom, an exploration of the late ’90s and early ’00s New York indie scene.
While the band hasn’t specified exactly what kind of film they plan to release, there’s a good chance it will be some sort of hybrid documentary/concert film like the collaborators’ previous work. Magna studios, which previously worked on films like Beastie Boys Story, Gangs Of London, 20000 Days On Earth, and Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now, is also on board to produce.
No release date has been set for the project as of this writing—the brothers are probably waiting to see if they can stand to be on a red carpet together after sharing the stage for the first time in 16 years. The tour kicks off July 4 in Cardiff, Wales. It’s currently scheduled to run through November.
