Taylor Kitsch will be on True Detective, according to Taylor Kitsch
Not content to let Vince Vaughn have his moment in the online sun, Taylor Kitsch is actively stoking the #TrueDetectiveSeason2 hype furnace. Kitsch has been on the short list of rumored leads for season two for some time now, but in an AdWeek interview currently spreading all over the Internet he “confirms” his role in the HBO existential cop drama, if by “confirm” you mean nodding and making vague, noncommittal noises. Here’s exactly what the interview says:
“AdWeek: You’ve got True Detective coming up?
Kitsch: [Nodding] Mm-hmm. (For the record from sources involved in the negotiations: the deal is close, but not complete.)”
Anyway, Kitsch then goes on to talk about how “excited” he is to be on the show and how hard it was to turn down other offers “keeping a finger crossed that I was going to get True” and how series creator Nic Pizzolatto reminded him “why I wanted to be a actor, why you struggle and why you don’t quit.” He also reveals that the series will, as suspected, be set in the present but have a have a ‘70s vibe. Maybe all of this is true, and Kitsch simply can’t say too much at this stage, in which case we will all soon be working on our Taylor Kitsch puns. Either that, or Benedict Cumberbatch will end up getting the role.
