Valerie faces a new era's degradations in The Comeback season 3 trailer

No one could have anticipated how appropriate The Comeback‘s title would end up being when the first season premiered in 2005. The series is now coming back for the third time and Valerie Cherish (Lisa Kudrow) is back to her sitcom roots. Except this time, there’s no more asshole writers (played here by John Early and Abbi Jacobson) because the script is written by AI, which even Valerie seems to understand is a bad idea. After all, she’s the one that’s going to have to hawk this turd on Hot Ones when the very online promo cycle kicks in. 

We had already heard that The Comeback‘s third outing would be about AI, but the trailer makes it clear it’s not the only very 2026 issue that Valerie will try and likely often fail to overcome. In 2005, reality TV was overtaking traditional sitcoms. In 2014, Valerie benefitted from the prestige TV boom. Now, Valarie will have to compete with the attention economy. We look forward to seeing her try.

HBO confirmed with the trailer that season three of The Comeback will return on March 22 at 10:30 pm. Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman, and Damian Young will all reprise their roles from the previous seasons. In addition to Early and Jacobson, new members of the cast include Tim Bagley, Andrew Scott, Matt Cook, Jack O’Brien, Ella Stiller, and Zane Phillips.
