What's on TV this week—Sirens and Fountain Of Youth

Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows and streaming films. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, May 18 to Saturday, May 24. All times are Eastern.

The biggies

Sirens (Netflix, Thursday, 3:01 a.m.)

Julianne Moore plays a wealthy, alluring cult leader socialite named Michaela Kell in Sirens, a darkly comedic series from Maid creator Molly Smith Metzler. Michaela shares an unhealthy dynamic with her young assistant, Simone (Milly Alcock), which is a red flag for the latter’s sister (portrayed by Meghann Fahy), who is determined to rescue her sibling. Look for The A.V. Club‘s review on Thursday.

Fountain Of Youth (Apple TV+, Friday, 12:01 a.m.)

Guy Ritchie’s latest directorial adventure sounds like a mix of National Treasure and Indiana Jones. The film sees siblings Luke (John Krasinski) and Charlotte Purdue (Natalie Portman) team up in a quest to achieve immortality. The ensemble also features Domhnall Gleeson, Stanley Tucci, and Eiza González. The A.V. Club‘s review publishes Thursday.

Also airing

Motorheads (Prime Video, Tuesday, 3:01 a.m.)

The coming-of-age series Motorheads centers on rebellious teenagers who love racing Fast & Furious-style. When Logan (Michael Cimino) moves into his father’s (played by Ryan Phillippe) hometown, he struggles to adjust until he finds other outcasts who share his affinity for high-speed cars.

Fear Street: Prom Queen (Netflix, Friday, 3:01 a.m.)

The fourth installment of the Fear Street franchise brings us to 1988, when the campaign for Shadyside High’s Prom Queen is heating up (and all the It girls are disappearing one by one).

Pee-wee As Himself (HBO, Friday, 8 p.m.)

Paul Reubens, the man behind the amazing character Pee-wee Herman, takes center stage in HBO’s two-part documentary. Before he died in 2023, the actor gave a wide-ranging, 40-hour interview to director Matt Wolf, opening up about his sexuality, artistic ambitious, legal woes, and a lot more. Check out The A.V. Club‘s review on Tuesday.

Jerrod Carmichael: Don’t Be Gay (HBO, Saturday, 10 p.m.)

After coming out in his Emmy-winner Rothaniel and starring in his own reality show, Jerrod Carmichael returns to HBO for his latest stand-up special.
