U.K. government clears the way for Paramount-Warner Bros. merger
After previously saying she wanted to examine the deal more closely, culture secretary Lisa Mandy has seemingly changed her mind.

For a while there, it seemed like the best hope of stopping the acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount Skydance would be Europe. While the Ellison family cozied up to Trump, already gutting CBS News to make it more amenable to his administration, regulators in the United Kingdom had previously indicated that they weren’t totally onboard with giving one company and, essentially, one family so much control over global media. Now, Paramount is heading toward an antitrust trial in the United States, while authorities in the United Kingdom have apparently changed their minds about causing issues for David Ellison.
