In a press release on Monday, Netflix announced that Druski (real name Drew Debordes) has signed a multi-year deal to create original content for the streamer, starting with the semi-scripted series Collect And Praise on December 1. The series stars Druski as a money-grubbing megachurch pastor alongside fellow sketchy man of the cloth Mike Epps. In addition, Netflix is licensing some of Druski’s popular YouTube content like the series Coulda Been Love, Coulda Been Daddy, Coulda Been Records Auditions, along with other sketches.
In a video accompanying the announcement, Druski is seen playing mogul over his wide-ranging entertainment empire, including overseeing the sculpt of the prosthetics worn for his controversial sketch mocking Turning Point USA head Erika Kirk, waving away lawyers’ concerns about getting sued, and pumping up the pyro for Collect And Praise’s megachurch setpiece. As the tux-clad Druski settles into a press conference, a reporter asks, “What’s next for you?,” with the smiling comic responding simply, “No further questions.”
Announcing the signing, Netflix exec John Derderian stated, “Druski has a gift for building characters that people can’t stop talking about. We want the best talent in the world to bring us their most ambitious work, reach new audiences and build their brands. Collect & Praise is just the beginning, and we welcome Druski to Netflix.” Druski himself touted the deal, stating, “I’ve built my platform by creating characters and comedy that resonate with people. This partnership with Netflix will give me the resources to build on that comedy foundation and bring my work to a new global audience. It’s a tremendous opportunity for our team at 4LIFERS Entertainment to expand our reach, develop original programming for the masses and take our creativity to new heights.”
