Post-college life is a sexy, funny drag in trailer for British comedy It Gets Worse

“All I want is to live in a shit flat with my two best friends and make memories that would last a lifetime and just have, l don’t know, 10 years of my life where I wouldn’t have to worry about anything. I mean, is that really too much to ask?” That’s the plea from Leo Riech’s Ethan to his therapist (Elsinore‘s Andrew Scott) in the trailer for new British comedy series It Gets Worse. Sadly for post-graduates everywhere, the answer is a resounding and world-weary, “Yeah.”

Premiering in the States on Paramount+ on November 6, the series, creator Reich alongside Olive Gray (Save Me, Halo), and Emily Fairn (House of Guinness, The Responder) as three inseparable uni besties suddenly thrust into the cold, unrewarding real world of bad jobs, unfulfilling sex, and drifting friendships. Reich, who costarred in Lena Dunham’s similarly English-set comedy of young romantic entanglements Too Much, cites Dunham’s Girls as an inspiration for the six-episode comedy series. So it makes sense that Dunham herself appears in the trailer as a fed-up older boss counseling the trio (“That sounds like a you problem, bitch!”) as they take their first tentative steps into reluctant adulthood, threesomes, carelessly discarded condoms, and other fleeting 20-something pleasures and pitfalls.

Also starring Sean Delaney (Killing Eve), Dane Williams (What It Feels Like for A Girl, House of David), India Mullen (Normal People), John Tothill and Amelia Dimoldenberg, and narrated by White Teeth author Zadie Smith, It Gets Worse promises a cheeky, sexy, deeply uncomfortable look at self-obsessed, pansexual Londoners making all manner of amusingly painful life mistakes.
