Disney held its annual D23 Expo fan conference over the weekend, essentially a Comic-Con for the sort of people who consider Goofy-embroidered denim shirts evening wear. Besides previewing all-new footage of The Avengers, John Carter, and The Muppets withheld from the actual Comic-Con, the big revelations concerned Pixar’s recently claimed release dates in 2013 and 2014 and the mysterious films that would fill them. While those movies remain untitled for now, the studio did reveal their plots—and perhaps more importantly, confirmed that neither would be sequels created to showcase Larry The Cable Guy. The first, due Nov. 27, 2013, hails from Up co-director Bob Peterson, and imagines a world where dinosaurs never became extinct and, implicitly, God does not exist. The second, from Petersen’s Up collaborator Pete Docter, will be released on May 30, 2014, and take place inside the human mind, which is where humans keep all their most sinful urges.
