All-purpose movie nerds Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci given another nerdy thing about dragons
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci continue to benefit from being the only guys currently in Hollywood who have ever read a science-fiction, fantasy, or comic book, as the various frat boys who run the movie industry stare dumbfounded at stories of spaceships and monsters, then summon Kurtzman and Orci by bellowing, "NEEEEEEEEEEEERDS!" before going off to play hacky sack. The latest project to fall to their all-purpose Genre Geek Squad—despite a full slate that already includes reboots of The Mummy, Van Helsing, and Anne Rice's Lestat, plus a Spider-Man sequel—is Dragonology, based on the faux-reference books created by Dugald A. Steer, which presupposes that dragons are real and movies like Dragonheart and Reign Of Fire are popular.
