HBO announces première dates for The Newsroom and True Blood
Promising a long, hot summer of self-righteousness and shirtlessness, HBO has officially announced a June 24 premiere date for its Aaron Sorkin-scripted drama The Newsroom, as well as a June 10 return for True Blood—the fifth season of the sexy vampire sex drama, and the final hurrah for showrunner Alan Ball, who’s off to pursue other avenues of personal drama and occasional nudity. We’ve already shown you the trailer for The Newsroom, and here’s a quick teaser for True Blood, which promises even more ominous confrontations between humanity and bloodsucker-ity, plus shower and kissing scenes. Really, though, they could have just used that shot of Sam Trammell whipping off his shirt, which does an adequate job of effectively capturing the series.
