It’s only been on for two episodes, but HBO’s Game Of Thrones is already responsible for at least one “the media inspires violence” story: As reported on The Smoking Gun, two cousins in Manatee County, Florida were watching an episode of the show when they got into an argument over which of the characters was going to “win.” Win what, exactly? It doesn’t matter—all that matters is that the fight got so heated that Michael Podniestrzanski took a swing at his cousin, then threw him into his living room window, leading to his arrest. Not that this would have helped, considering a “winner” has yet to be named in George R.R. Martin’s Song Of Ice And Fire saga, but neither of them ever stopped to consult the books or even so much as a Wikipedia page, because that is what pussies do.
