Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark producers holding focus groups to tell them what critics have already said
Entertainment Weekly reports that creators of the 42nd Street golem that is Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark have begun quietly assembling focus groups to “hone in on trouble spots” in order to help them fix the show, trouble spots they are still apparently unaware of, despite the fact that even people in, say, Texas who haven’t actually seen the show could make light of them on their blog for months now. And considering a rather vocal focus group just specifically identified roughly a dozen areas for improvement—albeit in a totally UNCOOL way—this all seems a bit like sending a telegram to the wreckage of the Titanic reading, “May want to avoid icebergs.” Nevertheless, anyone willing to show up and point out to the producers’ faces that the story doesn’t make any sense and that Spider-Man should probably not still be hanging there like that will receive a “goodie bag worth over $60”—though that’s only a retail estimate, not taking into account its value to future ironic kitsch collectors.
