SZA’s video for “Drew Barrymore” has an unexpected cameo (it’s Drew Barrymore)

Upon reviewing SZA’s album Ctrl, The A.V. Club declared it “one of the best R&B albums of 2017.” Now there’s a new video for the artist’s track titled “Drew Barrymore,” which features a sly, unassuming cameo from the song’s namesake.

Mostly, the video features SZA and friends as they hang out in a chilly New York. Indeed, the whole thing evokes much colder weather than what the city is currently experiencing. However, it’s a perfect compliment to the chorus in which SZA repeats “warm enough for ya outside baby.” In one moment, the singer is sitting on some steps at night when Barrymore—who is not mentioned by name in the lyrics—walks by and smiles. They share a connection and that’s that.
