The teaser for Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig’s Lifetime movie sure looks like a Lifetime movie

The teaser for Lifetime’s own The Hateful Eight, A Deadly Adoption, has arrived, and boy does it look like a Lifetime movie. Initially filmed in secret, news of the TV movie leaked on April Fools’ Day, which was honestly very confusing for The A.V. Club’s Newswire writers. The next day, stars Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig announced that they would be pulling the movie entirely, furthering speculation that maybe the whole thing was a joke. Then they decided to prove the movie was real by releasing it anyway, presumably to save Lifetime the embarrassment of re-running Baby Sellers…again.

Now A Deadly Adoption has an official teaser trailer, which doesn’t really reveal too much besides that Ferrell and Wiig are both covered in blood and appear to be playing it pretty straight. We also get a glimpse of 90210’s Jessica Lowndes as the pregnant woman who weasels her way into married couple Ferrell and Wiig’s lives, with Ferrell telling Lowndes, “You really are a strange girl.” Whether that strangeness involves psychotic fits of jealously and/or hilariously overacted seduction (Spoiler alert: probably) will be revealed when A Deadly Adoption premieres on Lifetime Saturday, June 20 at 8 PM ET.
