Parks And Recreation renewed for a sixth season, NBC confirms

HitFix’s Alan Sepinwall is reporting what many have already suspected but which has still yet to be officially confirmed: NBC has renewed Parks And Recreation for a sixth season, saving the show from what would have been one of the most awkward and frustrating series cliffhangers ever. Sepinwall cites “a source close to the production” who obviously didn’t provide an episode count or a timeslot, though presumably getting this news out there now will force the network to figure that out soon enough—and definitely no later than Sunday, when NBC unveils its fall schedule. Parks is NBC’s highest-rated sitcom after The Office, meaning its chances for renewal now that the latter is ending were fairly solid already. But it’s nice to know (almost) for certain just the same.

UPDATE: Nick Offerman confirms the pickup on Twitter, offers tips on making a canoe.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly, The Hollywood Reporter, and TV Line have all called NBC's renewal announcement "official," so it's now official. Perhaps more importantly, Parks And Recreation's Facebook page says so.
