That old smoothie Lando Calrissian is getting his own comic book

Probably as a result of some terrible but ultimately redeemable double-cross, everyone’s favorite swindler, Lando Calrissian, is getting his own comic book. Lando, who was portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in the original Star Wars trilogy, will not appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, most likely because he’s shacked up on Centax-3 with a beautiful brunette of questionable repute. But with Star Wars: Lando, author Charles Soule (Death Of Wolverine) and former Daredevil artist Alex Maleev will tell you all about the character’s exploits prior to The Empire Strikes Back.

Soule told StarWars.com that the comic book depicts Lando “trying to make this way through an uncaring universe determined not to recognize that he [is] undeniably the coolest man in the galaxy.” Though how anyone could meet Lando and not instantly think he’s the coolest guy in the galaxy is a complete mystery. Did you see him kiss our hand? Where’s the Cloud City fainting couch?

Star Wars: Lando is set to hit stores in July and will be Marvel’s fifth Star Wars comic book released in 2015, following the successful launches of Star Wars, Star Wars: Darth Vader, Star Wars: Princess Leia, and Kanan: The Last Padawan. But why stop there? Bring on Star Wars: Grand Moff Tarkin, Star Wars: IG-88, and Star Wars: That Guy Talking About Who Will Stay Behind To Fly The Speeders During The Rebels’ Escape From Hoth.
