Will Smith summons Emma Thompson to craft Annie remake for his precious daughter

According to Vulture, the Oscar-winning screenwriter and actress is Smith’s first choice to oversee the story of a little girl whose youth and vitality provides vicarious happiness to an increasingly isolated and out-of-touch wealthy old man, and also to write a script for the new Annie movie. Anyway, the best part of this report is the mental picture of Thompson meeting with Smith and Jay-Z, presumably gathering around one of Smith’s cold marble tables in his massive trailer while Men In Black III production assistants throw makeshift logs of bundled $100 bills onto the fire. “But Mr. Smith, it’s summer,” one of them protests feebly. “Couldn’t we just turn down the air conditioning instead of building a fire?” And that’s the last word he utters before being dragged down into the trailer’s vast, subterranean crypts, never to be heard from again.
