Harley Quinn
Who she is: Harley Quinn, a.k.a. Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel
Her power: No superpowers, but incredibly acrobatic and dextrous. Plus, she throws a mean right hook.
Her story: As seen via flashbacks in Suicide Squad, Harleen Quinzel was a psychiatrist who fell in love with The Joker while he was her patient at Arkham Asylum. After Joker and his men take over the asylum, he gives her electroshock therapy, then she jumps into the same vat at Ace Chemicals that turned him white, and they begin a run as criminal overlords in Gotham, until a car accident ends in Batman capturing her. She’s recruited by intelligence officer Amanda Waller to be part of Task Force X and bring down the Enchantress (who’s doing that whole “trying to end the world” thing) in exchange for a less severe sentence. However, throughout the mission, she’s secretly coordinating an escape with her fugitive boyfriend, who eventually shows up to rescue her, though the helicopter he’s on crashed, leaving her distraught and believing he’s dead. Thankfully, by the end she’s helped save the day, and in the final moments we watch as Joker frees her from prison. Ah, deranged love.
Played by: Margot Robbie
Currently, Harley Quinn is: On the lam.
Where will we see her next? Unknown, though DC is probably more than happy to try and set her up with cameos in as many of its upcoming films as possible. Plus, she’s starring in an upcoming Birds Of Prey film, as well as the inevitable Suicide Squad 2.
