Watch the brand-new Guided By Voices perform an old favorite
Last night, Bob Pollard’s latest incarnation of Guided By Voices took the stage at Oddbody’s Music Room in the band’s hometown of Dayton, Ohio. This clip of the band performing Alien Lanes favorite “Game Of Pricks” has been making the rounds, showcasing Pollard’s latest crack team of musicians/drinkers:
The latest GBV lineup includes Kevin March on drums (who played with the band in the early ‘00s), as well as Mark Shue on bass, Nick Mitchell and Bobby Bare, Jr. on guitars, and of course Robert Pollard on jumps and high kicks. The 2016 incarnation of Guided By Voices appears to be in fine form, and perhaps tighter than the previous GBV “classic lineup.” That said, there’s no telling where “Game Of Pricks” appeared in the presumably three-hour set list, and just how intoxicated the band was at this point in the show. From the looks (and sounds) of the crowd in this clip, though, the kids still love Uncle Bob, no matter who he’s playing with.
The next stop for Guided By Voices will be Calgary’s Sled Island festival this weekend. The band will then be touring for the rest of the summer, including appearances with The Sonics and Built To Spill. Guided By Voices is touring behind its latest album, Please Be Honest, released last April, and probably a whole bunch more to be released before the end of the year.
