Chicago, dive into The Shape Of Water for free
No matter the genre, Guillermo Del Toro’s films are always a feast for the senses. As our film editor A.A. Dowd puts it in his review of Del Toro’s latest out of the Toronto International Film Festival: “Cinephilia has always been creative elixir for the Mexican genre maestro … [whose] lushly conceived fantasias spill from the bubbling cauldron of his superfandom.” That film, the “baroquely whimsical Cold War fairytale” The Shape Of Water, is set to debut in New York on Friday and expand nationwide next week, and we’ve got a chance for Chicagoans to slake their cinephiliac thirst for free.
We’re hosting an advance screening of The Shape Of Water this coming Monday, December 4 at the AMC River East at 7 p.m.; to enter to win one of 25 pairs of admit-two passes, follow this link and enter some basic information along with the code AVSOW. Just remember that advance screenings are often intentionally overbooked, so be sure to arrive early if you want to secure a seat.
The Shape Of Water opens in select theaters on December 1, 2017, with an expansion on December 8.
