Donald Trump might not know the difference between Kim Jong-Un and Kim Jong-Il
Compared to most recent presidents and about 90 percent of all Twitter users, Donald Trump doesn’t exactly have the best grasp on general knowledge about the world. He’s somehow able to get through his average day without looking too stupid, but every once in a while his abject ignorance shows itself and we’re all forced to recognize the fact that the guy running our country is just a huge dummy. Just last week, Trump somehow forgot the name of the country he had just bombed—Syria, for the record—because he was too busy recalling the “beautiful piece of chocolate cake” he had also eaten that day.
Now, as reported by Digg, Trump went on Fox And Friends yesterday and made some bizarre comments that suggest that he doesn’t realize that Kim Jong-Il and Kim Jong-Un are actually different people. Speaking with Ainsley Earhardt, here’s what Trump had to say about the current leader of North Korea:
They’ve been talking with this gentleman for a long time. You read Clinton’s book, he said, ‘Oh, we made such a great peace deal,’ and it was a joke. You look at different things over the years, with President Obama, everybody’s been outplayed, they’ve all been outplayed by this gentleman.
As pointed out in the Digg story, Kim Jong Un has only been running things (well, “running things”) in North Korea since 2011, so President Clinton definitely didn’t make any deals with him, and he was only around for a chunk of President Obama’s time in office, so nobody’s really been “talking with this gentleman for a long time.” Based on Trump’s quote, it seems like he’s probably confusing Kim Jong-Un for his father, Kim Jong-Il. That probably won’t make any difference when Trump forces us into some kind of idiotic, one-sided war against North Korea, but it does make all of this even more depressing than it would be otherwise.
