Fox buys just the idea of a Hannibal Buress sitcom co-written by Jonah Hill
In exciting news for fans of droll comedy and incredibly vague press announcements, Fox has purchased a potential project starring droll comedian (and 30 Rock writer/homeless guy) Hannibal Buress, to be co-written by Buress and Jonah Hill. It’s a blind script commitment, with the format and even the very concept of the show to be developed over the next few weeks—meaning Fox simply bought the show based on Buress’ reputation and Hill’s endorsement alone. To get this sort of sight-unseen leap of faith from a network, you’d normally have to be someone like Jim Belushi, so congrats are due to Buress, who’s already joking on Twitter that his show will be “half Breaking Bad and half Storage Wars.” So it’s about a guy who makes droll comments at meth lab auctions.
