Neko Case raffling off her Middle Cyclone muscle car
The 1967 Mercury Cougar that Neko Case mounted so defiantly for the cover of 2009’s Middle Cyclone could be yours: Case has put the car up for auction via the just-launched Neko Case’s Mercury Cougar-Rama Muscle Car ’Splosion website, where interested parties can enter an online drawing—options range from one ticket at $45 to a maximum 10 tickets at $250—with proceeds benefitting 826 National, the nonprofit launched by author Dave Eggers to provide writing classes to kids. You can go here to check out some more details on the car, which definitely seems to be in pretty good shape for its age; possibly that’s why Case nicknamed it “Angie Dickinson.” You can also learn more in the video below, in which Case and a few cute 826 National kids rattle off some specs and then answer the question, “What would you do with it?” in various cute-kid ways. Besides hire it out for Facebook photos, obviously. [via Pitchfork]
