Bikini Kill reunites for shows in Los Angeles, Brooklyn, and New York
Here’s a nice surprise for every riot grrrl who never stopped believing: Bikini Kill is getting back together for a series of live shows. The iconic ‘90s punk band broke up in 1997, so this tour will be the first time the whole group has been together for more than a one-off appearance in decades. Unfortunately, this is where the “bad news” portion of this extremely exciting announcement comes in, as this Bikini Kill tour is going to be frustratingly brief. As announced in a press release, the band will only be making three stops, in Los Angeles, Brooklyn, and New York, which happen to be three locations that aren’t hurting too bad for super cool concert events. But hey, at least it’s easier to get to New York and L.A. than it is to get to Antartica or whatever. It could be worse.
This news comes after Bikini Kill staged a minor resurgence back in September, when the band’s full catalog was finally made available on streaming services. Who knows, if tons of people go to these shows and stream those albums, Bikini Kill might stick around a bit longer.
