Bill Hader to crunch bones, chew children as a giant in Spielberg’s The BFG
In a move that’s actually pretty perfect, considering how cartoonish and angular he can make his physique, Bill Hader has signed on to play a giant in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s 1982 book The BFG. The movie follows a little girl, Sophie, as she teams up with both a friendly, big-eared giant and the Queen Of England to stop other, meaner giants from eating a bunch of people. It’s unclear which giant Hader will play, but one would assume it would have to be either the Fleshlumpeater, the Bonecruncher, the Manhugger, the Childchewer, the Meatdripper, the Gizzardgulper, the Maidmasher, the Bloodbottler, or The Butcher Boy. He could also be one of the nine other unnamed giants in the book, but what fun is that?
Mark Rylance will play the titular character in the film, which was adapted by E.T. screenwriter Melissa Mathison.
