Boilerman’s latest EP proves it’s Doing Great
Over the course of its five-year existence, Boilerman has become a cornerstone of Chicago’s DIY punk scene. With its members playing in a variety of other bands—Earth Girls, Broken Prayer, GIDIM—and with bassist Kris Di Benedetto running Ice Age Records, the trio’s still found time to carve out its place as the quintessential Chicago pop-punk band of this decade. Even with Di Benedetto recently moving to Philadelphia, Boilerman has soldiered on, and it’s releasing a new three-song 7-inch to prove it’s still an ongoing concern. The A.V. Club is streaming all of Doing Great below, featuring two Boilerman originals and a cover of Warren Zevon’s “The Factory,” which bounces along in a way that would make Leatherface proud.
Doing Great is available now though 86’d Records.
