Damon Lindelof just sold a top-secret sci-fi franchise to Disney for a bunch of money

If our wheel of progress is to keep turning, then every man to his trade, and so it is that Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof continues to produce science-fiction scripts for great sums of money. In addition to his work on Ridley Scott’s Alien sort-of-prequel Prometheus, Star Trek 2, and his upcoming Cowboys And Aliens, he’s just sold another one to Disney, a seven-figure deal to write and produce a secretive sci-fi project that's tentatively titled 1952. Other than it will not only be a film, but it also has "multiple platform aspirations" (don't we all?), not much else is known.

Naturally, some suspect that the name refers to the year 1952, and perhaps this indicates that it will have something to do with the detonation of the first hydrogen bomb. (We already know from Lost that Lindelof likes hydrogen bombs.) It’s also the year that flying saucers allegedly buzzed Washington D.C., so maybe it has something to do with that. Or perhaps 1952 will reveal the fact that both Dwight D. Eisenhower and Elizabeth II were reptilian overlords. Relax, for we have plenty of time for speculation; for now, rest assured that as the candlemakers tend to their tallow and the blacksmiths hammer at their anvils, so Damon Lindelof is bent in his stall, stitching together the multiplatform sci-fi franchises that allow our industries to flourish.
